UConn’s freshman point gaurd Ryan Boatright is finally going to get his chance to don the Huskies uniform after questions about NCAA violations that occured while he was playing AAU ball have been answered. The issue apparantly involved someone paying for a plane ticket to California for a tournament while he was living in Chicago constituting an improper benefit. Boatright will have to sit out six games, three of which have already been played. He will miss the first 2 games of the Battle4Atlantis tournament in the Bahamas later this month but would be available for the final game of the tournament where Connecticut could likely face Florida State if both teams are able to avoid upsets in the earlier two rounds. This is definitely welcome news for UConn who is a little thin at the point position with only sophomore Shabazz Napier starting with freshman walk onĀ Brendon Allen backing him up. We definitely look forward to getting to see this kid in action.
