This is really great news and a tremendous win for the Governor. As the first company to take advantage of the generous “First Five Initiative” crafted by Gov. Malloy CIGNA makes the decision to move its corporate headquarters from Philadelphia to Bloomfield and add over 200 jobs over the next 10 years in exchange for up $50 Million in Tax breaks and other incentives. CEO David Cordani a Waterbury Native and UHart grad made the announcement at the company’s Bloomfield headquarters that the company would also be investing over $100 Million into the campus.

Now we just have to get Travelers back officially from NYC and we’re good. This puts Greater Hartford up to like 6 Fortune 500s though with United Technologies, Northeast Utilities, Stanley Black and Decker, Aetna, The Hartford, and now CIGNA. Pretty good for a “small time” city if you ask me.
